This is a list of links to download software used to create web pages. These particular programs are, in my opinion, the best available from the internet. The programs are either freeware (free with unlimited use) or shareware (you must pay a registration fee to keep it past the time limit, to use all the features, or both). If you have any suggestions for extra software that could be added to this page, please e-mail me.
COMING SOON - GrimEdit 1.0, a fully featured and easy to use HTML Editor by yours truly, Grimace. GrimEdit will be freeware for a trial period upon its release, but following versions may become shareware (i.e. try before you buy). GrimEdit should be available in about July 1998. WebEdit Pro is one of the best HTML editors around. Although perhaps not the choice for complete and utter beginners, WebEdit Pro includes almost every tag in HTML (plus the choice to add your own), a handy image map editor, table builder, a complete HTML reference, HTML Tag syntax checker, WYSIWYG frame and form creators, and more. It is shareware, and you must purchase after thirty days has expired.
HotDog is a excellent full-featured and polished product, aimed at both the beginner and the professional. HotDog has an easy to use wizard for almost any tedious task in HTML, including frames, forms, tables, and JavaScript special effects. HotDog includes a file viewer to one side of it, so that you can drag and drop images and sounds, etc. straight into your document. HotDog is shareware, and expires after a 30 day period.
Homesite is a useful HTML editor with a multi-tabbed toolbar with useful buttons to speed your web page creation. Although HomeSite does not have its own HTML reference, it supports selection of an external HTML reference, such as Microsoft's one (see Links page). It is also shareware, available free for thirty days.
NetObjects ScriptBuilder is a professional JavaScript editing program, and it is not aimed at the beginning script writer. However, once you have mastered the drag and drop shortcuts and other useful aspects of this program, you will find it a helpful tool for developing your JavaScript web pages with. It is shareware, and expires in 30 days.
JPad is a great example of a beautifully simple but effective program. JPad is a great Java utility for beginners and experts alike, simply one program for creating your Java programs and HTML Web Pages. It has all the normal features you would expect from a Java programming utility, such as compiling and executing.
Nombas ScriptEase is a quality application for developing CGI (Common Gateway Interface) Scripts. ScriptEase includes options to automatically submit your script to your server, and much more. It is shareware.
Winzip is an essential addition to any web builders complement of programs, allowing you to both zip and unzip Winzip packages. This allows you to zip up things and add them to your web page for quick download.
Paint Shop Pro is the king of all shareware image editing programs. Now the new edition has more features than ever before, making PSP the perfect choice for creating your web page's images with. BTW, I use it for creating the images in Grimace Network.
CuteFTP combines simplicity and power to provide the best shareware FTP program. You can use CuteFTP to transfer your web pages onto your server when you are on the internet, and to browse for files on public FTP download sites.
This useful utility can submit a profile of your web page to over 1,500 search engines world wide automatically. Very useful if you want instant publicity for your home page.
